More than 120 Tribe members in Years 9-13 gathered at Kinloss on Sunday for The Big US Supper Quiz of the Year. 15 communities took part in the American-themed quiz with a joint team from Brondesbury Park Synagogue and South Hampstead Synagogue triumphing over Stanmore Synagogue in second place and Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue in third.
Rabbi Guttentag, Assistant Rabbi at Hampstead Garden Suburb Synagogue, acted as compere for the evening dressed (rather fetchingly) as Uncle Sam.
Guests enjoyed a great dinner with unlimited hotdogs and burgers, and candyfloss for dessert.
The Chief Rabbi gave a short address about the power of communities coming together and thanked Tribe for facilitating these opportunities across the year.
Winning team member, Raphael Leon, South Hampstead Tribe member, said: “It was a brilliant event with tough competition, but winning the trophy was the best feeling. I can’t wait to defend our title next year! Thank you Tribe for organising such a fantastic evening!”
Rabbi Guttentag said: “The sense of fun and excitement was electrifying. It was encouraging to see the vibrancy that Tribe brings to US Communities, together with our dedicated youth directors. We look forward to future inter-community initiatives.”
