Over fifty young people came together last weekend for the Tribe Learn to Lead Reunion Shabbaton. They were all participants on the Learn to Lead Jerusalem trip in February and came from a whole range of US communities - Radlett, Stanmore, South Hampstead, Brondesbury Park and Mill Hill - to catch-up and build on their experiences.

Friday Night was spent at Finchley Synagogue, where they prayed together with members of the community, had a delicious dinner and experienced a wonderful atmosphere at the ‘oneg’.

On Shabbat day, participants walked to Hendon United Synagogue, where they joined their Youth Service and Tribe sponsored a shwarma Kiddush to mark the occasion. The afternoon was spent with Tribe organised fun and educational sessions, with time afterwards for participants to reconnect with the participants and leaders from the Jerusalem trip.

After a scavenger hunt on the streets of Temple Fortune, there was a Seuda Shlishit at Rabbi Eli Levin’s home followed by a musical Havdalah when Shabbat went out.

Rabbi Binstock, Tribe Rabbi, said: “Following on from the highly successful Learn to Lead Jerusalem trip there has been a lot of interest in reuniting the group. The Reunion Shabbaton gave us a great opportunity to do this, and we were delighted that so many of the participants and leaders were able to join us. We would like to thank Finchley United Synagogue and Hendon United Synagogue for hosting us over the weekend.”
