During half-term, Tribe’s Learn2Lead programme took 56 Year 10 students to Jerusalem for the week. The participants came from a wide-range of United Synagogues, including Stanmore, Highgate, Radlett and South Hampstead.

The full Learn2Lead programme, which runs for three years, aims to inspire and teach the requisite skills in order to create the next leaders of UK Jewry. This Jerusalem trip lays the foundation for participants to connect to their Jewish heritage, their local community, and other teenagers from different United Synagogue communities.

The programme was filled with exciting activities as well as educational content. Highlights included team-building sessions, a visit to the Kotel and a poignant visit to Yad Vashem, where participants learnt about events of the Holocaust. They also managed to squeeze in a trip to the go karting track!

Learn2Lead participant Teia Metzger said, “Every trip to Israel is amazing but the Learn2Lead trip was not only amazing but life changing too. It was educational but fun and an opportunity to bond with old friends and make lots of new ones too.”

Marc Benamram, Tribe Leadership Executive, commented, ‘it is so important that we are able to take these teenagers to Israel as part of our Learn2Lead programme as there is no better place for them to connect with their Jewish roots than in this holy and inspirational setting where Judaism comes to life.”
