Last week 26 pupils in 13 Cheders were awarded special Aleph Champ trophies for effort and achievement in Hebrew reading.

The popular Aleph Champ Hebrew reading programme has changed the vibe of Hebrew reading in Chadarim. What once was viewed as a chore is now seen by pupils as a highlight of their week. The popular programme is based on the Karate system, with each child moving onto a new coloured level when they finish their previous one. Pupils enjoy the competitive? challenge of passing the levels and receiving their coloured wristbands and certificates.

The successful motivational programme which was created in the USA and modified and adapted for the UK audience has now been implemented in many Jewish primary schools across the UK. Below are a couple of Aleph Champ Champions from Kingston Cheder and you can find the full list here.

Samathana Hamblings from Muswell Hill said: "Muswell Hill Cheder celebrated with an end of year prize giving after each class performed a small song or sketch to illustrate some of what they had learnt during the year. Not only was one child from each class recognised as achieving with regards to their Jewish Knowledge but two children received special trophies, engraved with their names, to recognise effort and achievement in their Hebrew reading. Both Aaron Shaverin and Jacob Rogoff were delighted to receive these awards as their proud parents looked on. Well done boys!"
