Almost 30 university students joined Tribe for their Winter Weekender at Alton Castle.

Participants enjoyed pre-Shabbat pints at a local pub where they had a chance to meet students from across the country. They then spent a wonderful Shabbat filled with beautiful singing, delicious food and fantastic educational sessions run on contemporary topics by Rabbi Andrew Shaw and Rabbi and Rebbetzen Proops of Mill Hill US. Tribe’s Shinshinim, leaders who run educational programmes, also led a session about Israel.

Before leaving after Shabbat, the students created a great atmosphere for Havdalah.

David Collins, Director of Young People and Young Families said: “I’m delighted that once again Tribe have been able to connect with future leaders of UK Jewry and help educate and inspire them in their Judaism in engaging and exciting ways. I hope that the energy, enthusiasm and love of Judaism that was sparked here will be taken back to university campuses and continue to grow.”

Rabbi Andrew Shaw, commented: “It was wonderful to spend one final Shabbat with Tribe with such a fantastic atmosphere. I’m humbled to see that what began as an idea has grown into a vibrant, engaging and educational part of the United Synagogue which continues to inspire the future leaders of UK Jewry”.
