Making a real difference

Last year, following the horrific fires in Israel that saw hundreds of thousands of lives thrown into turmoil, the Tribe Israel Team launched a campaign to raise money to help those affected.

After receiving numerous donations, more than £7,300 was raised, enabling Tribe to provide everything from mattresses to mezuzahs, as well as toys and games for children.

This campaign highlights the wonderful power we have as a community to make a difference. The effects of the campaign are evident in the following email, received by Tribe:

“I wanted to let you know what a wonderful and thoughtful gift the bikes for the kids has been. You can probably imagine that as parents attempting to rebuild a house on little more than a wing and a prayer, we had to tell the children that replacing the bikes was simply a low priority and they would have to wait. Your gift has brought such joy to them. My youngest, in particular, likes to ride to school, and now she will be able to once again.

“I realise that you probably represent a large number of people who worked together to make this possible and I ask that if you have a way of passing on our gratitude please do so. Your kindness and care have made us all feel truly cares for not to mention that the kids around here are all thrilled. I hope that you will only ever be on the giving end of such generosity. With great appreciation.”

The United Synaogue also received this touching email from other individuals affected by the fires, part of which we are including below:

"We are witnesses to the best in Am Yisrael.  The great embrace that we have received from people in Israel and from abroad has given us added strength. To those that brought supplies and food, day and night with very little rest and all those that have aided us financially we owe a great debt.

Your support, added a lot of light during the dark days. We hope that thanks to your generous contributions and together with the assistance we receive from governmental and municipal agencies, we will be able to revive our infrastructure, our services and our forest.  Most importantly we will begin the process to rebuild the lives and homes of our neighbors and friends.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

With great appreciation".

We’d like to take this opportunity to once again thank all of you who donated to this cause.
