The act of blessing your child is a beautiful custom which usually takes place on a Friday night before kiddush.
At the US, we like to start blessing our children early and a number of US communities run ‘Baby Blessing Ceremonies’ for parents of new babies on numerous occasions throughout the year.
A Baby Blessing Ceremony is a wonderful event where parents and grandparents come together for a communal baby blessing by the rabbi along with individual blessings from the parents.
If there are a lot of babies or young children in your community and your synagogue haven't organised one, why not get in touch with your synagogue/rabbi and try and arrange one? We are certain they would love to help!
