Community Manager - Chigwell and Hainault

Chigwell & Hainault Synagogue is a large and growing community, with around 800 families, including many with children under 21 years of age.  We are looking to employ a Community Manager to manage and maintain all aspects of the Synagogue's operational functions.

The ideal candidate will have a wealth of administrative experience, excellent customer care skills and a desire to participate fully in the delivery of services to our community as part of a talented team. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the Synagogue office. Core tasks will include:

  • To attract new members and proactively involve new members through the use of social media 
  • To work with the Rabbinic team to develop and promote programmes for Torah and learning. 
  • To work with the Lay Leadership to develop and promote social and communal programmes for the membership. 
  • To manage and develop administration and facilities staff to ensure the smooth running of the Synagogue. 
  • Co-ordinate with volunteers to support their work in the community and initiate projects with them as befits the needs of the community. 
  • Ensure that the financial and membership records of the community are maintained accurately and efficiently, as specified by US financial procedures.  

With the ability to work on your own initiative, delivering results under pressure to tight deadlines and ensuring confidentiality is kept at all times, you will have exceptional communication and interpersonal and IT skills, with proven experience of successfully managing a team. Ideally, you will have good knowledge of Jewish customs and practice.
