FIRST TRIBE SHABBATON FOR JFS STUDENTS

Fifty Year 7 JFS students travelled to Kingswood in Staffordshire last weekend to take part in Tribe's first Shabbaton held in conjunction with JFS.

With Rabbi Mordechai Ginsbury from Hendon United Synagogue leading Shabbat services, the participants enjoyed a special Shabbat experience, followed by an array of fun-filled activities including quad biking, go-karting, abseiling and caving.

Sasha Stalick, aged 11, commented: "The whole weekend was fantastic and was a great opportunity to spend time with friends and enjoy the Shabbat experience. I'm already counting down to the next one."

The Shabbaton also saw the launch of Tribe Summer Camps 2010 which will run from 28th July -10th August, 2010. Based in Welbeck College in Loughborough, the action-packed camp will provide Tribe members with the opportunity to make use of the fantastic facilities that include a swimming pool, cinema, football pitches, hockey pitches, high ropes course and arcade rooms.

Josh Kleiman, Tribe Events Coordinator said: "We are delighted at the success of JFS' first Shabbaton in conjunction with Tribe and the weekend demonstrated the valuable experience provided by the United Synagogue for our younger members. We also had a wonderful response to the launch of Tribe's Summer Camps 2010 and the exciting activities on offer, and we're looking forward to seeing many of the students again later in the year."

The Tribe Shabbaton was held in association with JiEP -- the Jewish informal education programme run by JFS.
