AMBASSADOR FINALISTS JET OFF TO
ACTION- PACKED WEEK IN ISRAEL

London, 4th March 2008

The twenty finalists of the TRIBE Ambassador programme from King Solomon High School and JFS have returned to the reality of London after an action-packed week in Israel. The finalists of the Israel advocacy programme, run by TRIBE in partnership with BICOM, JNF and UJS, spent their week seeing Israel from a variety of social, religious and cultural aspects.

During their visit to Israel, the winners met with the heads of many large Israel advocacy organisations, government officials and religious leaders. The trip included a visit to the Foreign Ministry and a special meeting with Eytan Schwarz, the winner of the Israeli TV’s version of the Ambassador.

Other highlights for the budding advocates included a tour of the Hazerim Army base where they met with soldiers and enjoyed an interview with the commander of the base, and a visit to a developing centre of agriculture in the Negev. The sixth-formers also spent time exploring Bedouin culture and visiting Neve Shalom, a village jointly established by Israelis and Arabs.

Charlotte Klein, TRIBE’s Programme and Leadership Director said “This trip has had an amazing impact on the participants, increasing their commitment to be advocates for Israel when on campus. Over the past 3 years this programme has touched hundreds of sixth formers who are now studying at universities across the UK.”

Talia Eisner, a finalist from King Solomon High School said “Our time in Israel has been phenomenal and I feel within a week that I have grown as an individual as well as really experiencing everything Israel has to offer. The week was a great end to what has been a very valuable learning experience for me and something I will never forget.”
